IMAGINE BEING AN ORPHAN AND ....

This amazing video was developed by our team member, Jayne Schooler - see if you can only IMAGINE?

DAYSPRING FAMILY LIFE RESOURCE CENTER - imagine a new beginning for a child! The renovations are well underway, the furnishing baby shower is getting noticed and the home will be furnished for children once we get all the donated purchases made. And then? The children who are waiting....will enter through the doors.

Dayspring Family Life Resource Center will receive 10 children at a time - with the goal of having a permanent family for each child. We will work with birth families, help find adoptive families and we will provide training for all with the help of our team members.

Imagine the partnership - churches, community and government - working together to create resource families for children. Volunteers tutoring, teaching and loving children. We are ready.

Our GRAND OPENING will be a major event for the city of Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan. We expect to have the partnership present - churches, sponsors, government workers, the mayor, children, balloons, food and just plain rejoicing for the new pilot project - Let's imagine a KYRGYZSTAN WITHOUT ORPHANS!

DAYSPRING - THE INTEREST IS GROWING!

"The renovations continue and it is looking more and more like a home - check out these wonderful donated cupboards!"

CHILDREN NEED FAMILIES - NOT AN ORPHANAGE!

We are excited to share the news - the Baby Shower is bringing lots of goodies! We now have the following purchased: bathroom towels, 5 bunk beds, 1 twin bed, 8 student desks, all the bedding and a great start toward the purchase of the stove. We have $250 toward that item! We would love to have you look at the items and join our shower guests. Just cut and paste this into your browser:

And what is Dayspring? It is a chance for families for children who would otherwise be placed into an orphanage in Kyrgyzstan. Together with the local churches, government and concerned individuals such as yourself, we can make a difference. Children coming to Dayspring would have gone to an orphanage - the difference here is we will be working with their families doing what we can to train and help them create the conditions to receive their children back home - we will be helping government find homes for children to be adopted into, by using our churches as resources. AND we will seek permanence for every child walking through the doors of Dayspring. We are about family.....

We have a fabulous couple hired to meet the children once they come to Dayspring, they will be their mother and father at Dayspring. They will love and teach them. We are working with the local church to ensure continued support and help in growing the children and strengthening the project. Join us - become a LAMPLIGHTER! HOW?

1. GO TO THE BLOG AND JOIN OUR SHOWER
2. BECOME A MONTHLY SUPPORTER - We need 7 more $100 per month donors, 8 more $50 per month donors, 8 more $25 per month donors and 10 more $10 per month donors.

WHERE? Just click on the Canada Helps Button on this blog and away you go. Just passing one cup of coffee a day, could help divert one child from the clutches and life in an orphanage!

Thanks for helping!

A BABY SHOWER? WELL YES, FOR OUR NEW "BABY!"

YOU ARE INVITED - YES REALLY INVITED TO OUR "BABY" SHOWER IN KYRGYZSTAN

This is a virtual shower to bring love, hope and dignity to the children in Kyrgyzstan - to those children who will step across the new doors of Dayspring Family Life Resource Center. These children will NEVER see the doors of an orphanage and now you can help FURNISH THEIR HOME!

As you know, we have purchased a home in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan to become the first ever family foster home for children who would otherwise have been placed into an orphanage. We will receive 10 children at a time. The GOAL? Permanence - to help them find a permanent home. This might mean to return to their families where they will be safe and loved; to be welcomed into their new adoptive family or to grow up with Asel, Talant, Melody, Divna, and Aliyma our resource family at Dayspring Family Life Center. We dream of a Kyrgyzstan without orphans - will you DREAM WITH US?

BREAKING NEWS - WRIGHTS JOIN LAMb INTERNATIONAL

LAMb INTERNATIONAL WELCOMES THE WRIGHT FAMILY!

The Wright Family Joins LAMb at the River
There is a river which winds throughout the countries of Central Asia. It is a unpredictable river. It is full of crevasses and gullies, sharp boulders and tangled trees. It is a river that no one would ever think of attempting to navigate. Yet, day after day, thousands of children, families and elderly are thrown into the river even when everyone knows what’s there.

No, this isn’t a real river as we think of it, but it is the raging river of extreme poverty, hunger, severe neglect, homelessness and despair swallowing children and elderly who are thrust from the banks into its sweeping waves.
What created the river?

Krygyzstan, the Central Asia country of LAMb’s focus, is a beautiful country, but marred by severe economic conditions and political and social chaos. These conditions have led to poor living conditions, poor nutrition, poor medical care and poor education. Families are devastated and many have no fathers present in the home. There are few, if any government supports that have prevented this tragedy. With the recent events of the spring and summer of 2010, the needs have mushroomed beyond imagination. Krygyzstan desperately needs people on the banks of the river.
Who is at the river?

LAMb International and Possibilities International team members, John and Julie Wright and family have been working collaboratively on the banks of the river in Krygyzstan collaboratively for a number of years. Now, the Wrights officially joined the LAMb team on July 1, 2010. What does this mean for LAMb?

John and Julie and their daughters Emma and Bekah, will spend much of their time downstream as they have previously done. They will be pulling the homeless and needy out from the raging river – one child, one senior or one family at a time by coordinating humanitarian relief, food allocation, medical and dental assistance, and whatever presents itself.

Further upstream, the LAMb team, headed by Lynn and Ruby Johnston, will be “grabbing” children just before they are first thrown into the river and into the orphanage system. With the creation of DaySpring Family Life Resource, one the country’s first Christian based family type foster homes, ten young girls will never step across the doors of an orphanage. When they come into care, they will walk into the home and heart of the staff of Dayspring. According to Lynn and Ruby Johnston, this new project "will be the start of what is to come - children having someone to call mommy and daddy and knowing they are made special in His image!"

At the furtherest point upstream, the Johnston’s, David and Jayne Schooler and national staf"f will be developing training and support programs for university social workers, local social workers, schools and parents in an effort to build a system that will learn how not to throw the children and elderly into that river.
Key support people back home, facilitate resources and communication. Don and Johanna Buchanan (LAMb co-founders)and Randy and Kim Gebele are vital members of the team in the US.

LAMb’s hope is to man the river well. None of us can grab every child or senior that has fallen into the river, but we can grab some. We can also hope that the teaching and training efforts now being put in place will impact the social welfare system of this wonderful, but troubled country. There will always be a river, but perhaps, through the work of LAMb and other humanitarian groups throughout Krygyzstan, its force will be greatly minimized.

We say to John, Julie, Emma and Bekah….welcome to LAMb!

STOPPING FOR THE ONE IN FRONT OF YOU

Again and again we quote the phrase - "We want to show up and stop for the one in front of us." This phrase is more important than ever before. Kyrgyzstan is a country where some feel they need to flee and leave the work behind for others to accomplish.

In the past, we have been there to see the country struggle to move forward. We were there when the revolution took place, we returned to see devastation continuing as the country faced brutal ethnic violence. And now we just are waiting to return. Some would ask why - we can only say "Why not."

Our team is geared up for a full return. Partners John, Julie, Bekka, and Emma Wright will be there in just over a week. David and Jayne Schooler will follow about three weeks later and we will arrive just after the Schoolers.

We have a lot of work to do.
1. We are working hard to open the first foster home - a home for 10 children we will be working to find permanent homes for. This is a pilot project, and we will work with government to help them see how they can work with the churches to find and prepare families who will adopt, foster or be a resource.

2. The senior home needs heat for the upstairs, coal for the winter and the residents are waiting for our return to "just show them the love of God" by being there with them.

3. The Iskra home for the disabled men - we have more projects to start. We want to see them developing - not just vegetating. We will bring a team of professionals to teach them to use what they have to do physical therapy. Two residents want to go to Bible College and need our support and encouragement to make this happen. And there is the ever present need for food, clothing and medical support.

4. The baby hospital awaits our arrival. The floor still needs completed, there are beds to be bought and supplies needed to ensure babies are given their daily needs.

5. The baby orphanage still wants more training and help. There are babies needing medical support and surgeries.

7. Mercy Foundation continues to grow and develop their programs - The work of ministry of this organizations is a primary activity for our team.

10. There are cell groups to be conducted in our homes, bringing hope and dignity to those hurting and suffering from the present day trials.

11. And as always there is the work of ministry that surrounds all that we do. It is to follow the calling we know in our hearts is there - To Show Up and Stop for the One in Front of Us! The Great Commission reminds us to "....teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you...." Matthew 28:20. And what has He commanded? "......to visit orphans and widows in there affliction......" James 1:27.

Our team will be there - to help pick up the pieces left from the devastation - whereas ever we can....as there are now:
destroyed buildings,
lost families,
destroyed homes,
missing children,
dignity ripped away,
hope lost,
and worst of all - there are more orphans.

Please consider helping us - we cannot do it alone. The video tells the story of the devastation. Help is all we ask. Just help us - pray, share and love.
